The LA Galaxy unveiled Japanese National Team defender Maya Yoshida on Tuesday at a press conference at Dignity Health Sports Park.
On 3 August the MLS side signed the 34-year-old Yoshida to a one-and-a-half-year contract through the end of the 2024 MLS season.
Yoshida has made over 450 professional appearances with clubs in England, Germany, Italy, Japan and Netherlands. He spent the bulk of his professional career with Southampton in the English Premier League, making 154 appearances from 2012-20. He is coming off a spell with FC Schalke 04, where he played 29 matches during the 2022/23 Bundesliga campaign.
Most notably, Yoshida has played in three FIFA World Cups (2014, 2018, 2022) and captained Japan to the Round of 16 in Qatar.
